KILLERWHALE SEASON HAS STARTED

- From the 1rst of november, orcas safaris have started again in Tysfjord, Norway. Every year, orcas are following the migration of the herrings alongside the Norwegian coastline and sometimes are entering the fjords to track them. This unique phenomena is the occasion to observe those mighty predators at close range but also to experience the incredible light that is basking those arctic landscapes. You can follow the sightings by following this link: www.tysfjord-turistsenter.no/safari/fieldnotes2008

NORWEGIAN WILDLIFE AS ITS BEST

- This summer was a busy one for both of us and we have been very lucky to spend all our days at sea. Isabelle has been guiding the whale safaris from the little fishing village of Stø in the Vesterålen (north of Norway) during July and August. The main specie to observe in this area is the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) but it is not uncommon to see also Minke whales, white-sided dolphins, harbor porpoises, pilot whales and for the luckiest ones, even humpback whales and orcas ! But one of the favorite among our visitors was to be able to approach Anda Island, where you can see thousands of puffins but also guillemots, cormorants and the mighty white-tailed eagle.

-Stefan was both guiding and skippering nature safaris in the Lofoten islands. On the menu: breathtaking landscapes, navigation through narrow fjords and tiny islands, snorkeling in crystal clear waters and lots of wildlife. The white-tail eagle is an everyday sighting and it is also quite common to encounter harbor porpoises, puffins, cormorants, Minke whales and sometimes even basking sharks.

BBC WILDLIFE COMPETITION

- The international photography contest BBC Wildlife is one of the most important animal and nature photo competition in the world. Great names of nature photography are among the jury and many photographers have started their career thanks to this amazing opportunity to reach a lot of people. For his first participation, Stefan had 7 of his images selected in the semi-finals. A very good start indeed but it will have to be even better next year. A new challenge to undertake!
